π Introducing Bitcoin Origins β a new experimental cryptocurrency project inspired by Bitcoin 0.1
I’ve been working on a personal project called Bitcoin Origins, based on the architecture and spirit of the original 2009 Bitcoin release.
The idea is to keep things simple and old-school: an independent blockchain, its own Genesis Block, Proof-of-Work mining, peer-to-peer nodes, and a Windows client inspired by early Bitcoin.
Some details:
- Independent blockchain
- Custom Genesis Block
- Proof-of-Work mining
- P2P network
- Default port:
17474 - Windows client
- Source code available
- Separate Genesis Miner tool
- MIT licensed
The project is still experimental and very early, so bugs and rough edges are expected.
I’m mainly building it to learn more about how Bitcoin works at a low level, but I’d also love to see other people test it, run nodes, inspect the code, and maybe contribute.
If you’re interested in old Bitcoin architecture, blockchain development, mining, or just weird experimental crypto projects, check it out!

Feedback, testing and contributions are welcome.
