Gold Price Analysis: XAU/USD Eyes Recovery Toward $4,200 Resistance

Gold Price Analysis: XAU/USD Eyes Recovery Toward $4,200 Resistance

One analyst considers the break below $4,140 as a nullification of the bullish setup but believes that $4,150-$4,160 is a potential area of interest for buyers. The weekly chart also indicates that money flow has turned negative, and traders will be interested to see if a buying defense can be sustained or if selling pressure will continue the pullback.

Gold Price Tests Support Between $4,150 and $4,160

After retesting its 2026 highs, gold is coming into a sweet spot, as traders monitor if buyers will go on the defensive at $4,150. An analyst on X noted that the 4150-4160 level could be a good top entry point for a bull run, while the area below $4140 would be a negative sign.

The analyst’s posting on October 13th does not spell a definite reversal but a trading plan, contingent upon a few conditions. Traders may consider going long if gold is trading above the recognized support level. But a drop below $4,140 would be a red flag to put the “buy” mentality on hold.

The forecast is based on the price action in the vicinity of the entry area. If the price of gold stays above $4,150, the proposed scenario would be supported, but continued selling could bring the precious metal down.

The analyst also mentions some potential profit targets in the accompanying post, which are 100, 300, and 500 points. These are not targets but possibilities, and the situation relies on support to hold up.

Gold Price Chart Shows Pullback From 2026 High

A technical chart from TradingView displays Gold Spot’s weekly time frame against the U.S. dollar (XAU/USD). The displayed price is $4,156.005, down $38.640, or 0.92%, in the October 13, 2026 chart.

Gold has ceased its recent trend of rising, but it is still above its previous historical trading range. The chart depicts that the price broke out from a steep move and is now coming back, not continuing to follow an upward trend.

The new reading positions gold in the $4150–$4160 range that is highlighted in the X analysis. This overlap makes the zone worth considering, but the weekly TradingView chart does not necessarily validate the shorter time frame entry point indicated in the analyst’s post.

The two charts are also on different time frames.

The X post is about a short-term trading space, and TradingView displays the price history for gold over a longer time frame. Therefore, the suggested correction to $4200 must be considered a short-term scenario and not as a viable trend reversal.

Gold Price Momentum Declines as Money Flow Becomes Negative

The Chaikin Money Flow indicator (CMF) is part of the TradingView chart and is used to evaluate buying and selling pressure based on price and volume. It shows a reading of -0.02, which is only below the neutral level of zero.

When the CMF indicator has a negative reading, money is flowing out of the market instead of into the market during the period of time that the indicator measures. But it is near zero and not strong enough to confirm bearish selling pressure.

There is also an indication of increased trading during portions of the massive surge and subsequent pullback in gold. The recent pullback follows a significant range of activity, and traders will be eager to see whether the market holds up, so volatility could increase ahead.

The short-term forecast is for the $4150–$4160 range, as this is the next zone to monitor. Buyers have to defend it, and gold may try to reverse back to the $4,200 resistance level, which is shown in the X chart. A trend-confirming move in that area would give some more validation of a turnaround, though the chart doesn’t suggest that this will happen.

The negative side of the picture is that a decline below $4,140 will jeopardize the bullish outlook of the analyst. Traders would then have to evaluate if gold will find a bottom at the current price.

As a whole, the X time frame is in a buying situation, and the weekly chart of gold is correcting from a strong bull market run. The price of $4,140 in XAU/USD could be a key level to see if the current pullback reaches a bottom or continues.
