Ledger Nano X - The secure hardware wallet

I built a free site where people can compare photos and weights of their hardware wallets to spot tampered units. Looking for feedback

After the reports of tampered devices with extra hardware hidden inside, I wanted a simple way for people to check whether their wallet matches a known-good one. So I built tampercheck.org.

How it works:

  • You post photos of your device (front, back, seams, ports, the box, and the board if you’ve opened it), plus its weight and dimensions.
  • Other people look it over and vote: looks genuine, unsure, or suspicious, with comments on what they see.
  • Verified units build up reference weights for each model, so you can weigh yours and see whether it’s off. Added components usually add measurable weight.
  • There’s also a short guide on what to check: red flags, weighing, USB checks, and what to look for inside.

The important bits:

  • It will never ask for your recovery phrase, PIN or passphrase, and nobody legitimate ever will. Text that looks like a recovery phrase is rejected automatically.
  • No accounts, no trackers, and location data is stripped from photos.
  • It’s for any brand, not just Ledger, and it isn’t affiliated with Ledger or any other manufacturer.
  • Community votes aren’t proof. Always run the official Genuine Check too.

It’s new and still somewhat under construction, so expect rough edges. I’d really appreciate:

  • Feedback: what’s confusing, broken or missing?
  • Reference submissions: if you bought your device directly from Ledger and have a scale that reads to 0.01 g, a weight and a few photos would help build the baseline everyone else compares against.
  • Suspicious devices: if you have one, post it so others can learn from it.

Thanks, and happy to answer questions in the comments.
