What bitcoin ETF flows mean

A fund's net flow is the dollar value of shares created minus shares redeemed that day. When investors buy more than they sell, the fund creates new shares and buys bitcoin to back them: that's an inflow. When they sell, shares are redeemed and the fund sells bitcoin: an outflow.

The latest session shows net inflows of $176.0M across all US spot bitcoin ETFs, which together hold $103.94B in net assets. IBIT (BlackRock) and FBTC (Fidelity) usually dominate the day's movement, and GBTC (Grayscale) has been a net seller for most of its life as holders exit its higher fee.

Flows are reported after the US close, so the data runs at least one trading session behind the market. The newest day can be revised when smaller issuers report late. Weekends and US market holidays have no flows.
